Need to replace one of my avensis' reverse light that isnt working as I have an nct next week. Is this a big job and if not how do i do it?

Would any old autofactor store have a replacement or do I have to go to Toyota specifically?

open boot, remove the cover over the light and pop out the correct bulb. Your local filling station will have a bulb. Simple 30 second job. Hardest bit might be opening the boot...

    What year?

2003 on, only has one reversing light.

    1997-2002 has two.

Either way, its an easy replace. Open inside cover in the boot and squeeze the clips to pull out the bulb holder cluster. Replace with a standard 21W sinlge filament bulb from any motor factor.

    You're sorted. Hopefully!

erm.. don't you have to unbolt and remove the cluster on the new model to get at the bulbs?

Do they even test that in the NCT??

I haven't had reversing lights on my Vectra in about 2 years, replaced the switch (€5-7 in local motor factors) on top of the gearbox twice but there must be something else wrong as the bulbs are fine.

sorry, I mean the old new model :D

    (03-09)

As far as I can remember you need to remove the plastic boot trim and take the whole unit out. I may well be wrong though.

Reversing light is not tested for the NCT.

Some people are beginners, we all have to appreciate that.

I've asked technical questions on this board before that must have seemed like childs-play to others.

I know it can be easy for some but this should be a basic job for all car owners. Japanese cars are generally easy to work with and for god sake OP don't buy a German car then you are righlty FOOOK

03-09 has like a "knob" and the flap in the boot liner opens back once you turn this knob through 90 degrees IIRC.

Then you just squeeze the 2 clips and the whole cluster will pop out to you.
