Has anyone every used cbg.ie to sell a car? Just wondering how people got on if they did.

I had a free ad up there for a while, and when it expired they rang me to sell me another ad. I decided it was worth a shot and handed over €70 for the ad. Below is a mail I got telling me everything I would receive.

I paid the money and sent pictures of my car. I had to ring them to confirm that they recived the pictures, which they did. They then put up wrong pictures, had to ring again. They sorted that. And my ad was supposed to be a "premium ad" and its bottom of the list on the site.

I've been treated like a royal shi*e by this crowd now and to be honest, I'm pure sick of them. Customer service is a joke to them in my eyes. In my business, if someone paid me money for a service and I only half did it, and only did that much from pressure by the customer, I'd be on the dole now.

Here are all of the details for you.

Car Buyers Guide – February Upgrade Package

Car Buyers Guide (CBG) is a weekly motoring magazine and the only Irish Motoring Title. We specialise in private sale classified advertisements and our advertisers have great success with us, (75% success rate within the first month!). We have a huge amount of coverage that we offer in two types of media, web and print.

CBG magazine has been running successfully for over 12 years, is Irish owned and operated, is only priced in Euros and distributes 55,000 copies every week. This gives us a minimum weekly readership of 80,000 people who are in the market to buy a car. Our website has over 6.5 million hits per month.
As I said I handpick the content we provide for the following websites: www.loadzacars.ie, www.irishmotoring.ie, www.irishtimes.ie[, www.independent.ie which allows us to give a phenomenal amount of coverage for those which are placed onto the additional sites.

Here are the details of our Deal of the Week package I have offered you today, the advantage of been in the deal of the week section of the magazine is amazing, this section is so successful because we limit and hand pick the cars that go in to it… (ie) instead of being on a page with 100s of the same make and model of your car, you would only be there with about 4 or 5 which makes it much more exclusive. At the end of the day it’s not a lottery it’s about selling your car.
Top Marques/ Deal of the week – A3
Full colour photo 1/2 size of a credit card + detailed description in car buyers guide magazine and on cbg.ie

1weeks at the front of magazine in the Top Marques / Deal of the Week
4 weeks in our A-Z Classified Section with full colour photo + detailed description

    On www.cbg.ie Online till sold!!
    On www.independent.ie Online till sold!!
    On www.irishtimes.ie Online till sold!!
    On www.irishmotoring.ie Online till sold!!
    On www.loadzacars.ie Online till sold!!

You will also be placed on Premium Placement on all of are websites, which means your car will be high lighted on the top of are websites in black bold writing

[This means that your car will get the full exposure it needs and people will not have to go searching through page after page just to see your car.

The original price for this add is €220 per car- for you today €100

As I said I can also take care of the photos and text for you so there's nothing to worry about there and have you up online to these websites as soon as I can process the booking. You can now put up to 9 photographs on our websites!! I’ll call you about this soon if I don’t hear from you first,

I don't think the c & p of your email worked too good, but yes I had similar treatment with CBG before and my complaints fell on deaf ears!

I've edited now so future readers won't need to tear out their eyes due to my copy and paste mishap

I advertised with them too...............complete waste of time, trying to get the ad up seemed to be a major problem and then, not that I can talk, they seem to have major spelling problems too. Needless to say I won't be going back to them and tbh Carzone aren't much better.

Well this is interesting. I was hoping that maybe I was unlucky but seems not. I think they are a gang of bandits. My experience so far is that they will try do the minimum, and don't even do that if they can get away with it. Once the money is in hand then they don't give a toss.

I've had to ring them twice. First time to tell them they hadn't met the requirements I paid for. They did 1 bit (the photos) but no more. Had to ring them again today to get the premium bit of the ad on the website. God only knows what they will do in the magazine, but if its not what I paid for they'll be getting more earache.

To be honest OP, more fool you for giving this crowd a red cent.

How are you going to sell cars otherwise? The Buy and Sell is good but they have too many issues every week and you don't know where your ad will end up most of the time. Carzone and CBG really have the market sown up and don't give a sh!t about there customers as far as I can see.

€70 is a bit steep imo.

Anyway its hard to sell anything at the moment no matter who you advertise with.

Garages can't give stuff away at the moment and it's going to get an awful lot worse believe me.
