Cold-brewed iced coffee

Now, for my sins I'm an iced-coffee drinker only - I never took to hot beverages of any type. Decent iced coffee is hard to come by at the best of times, and while the Starbucks frappacino is grand (if only vaguely coffee-ish), there's nothing to substitute a good plain iced coffee or a fancy 'caffè freddo'.

I'll be over in NYC next month and planned on visiting http://www.ninthstreetespresso.com/
I noticed that their iced coffee is 'cold infusion brewed', and since they probably don't skimp on quality I did a bit of googling on what the process involved. Turns out it's as complex as mixing up french-press grade grounds with four times volume of cold water - letting it sit for a few hours, strain through a sieve, strain again through a filter/muslin, chill, mix 1/2 and 1/2 with water, serve over ice. You can also get all fancy and mix a spoonfull of condensed milk, undiluted cold-brewed coffee and crushed ice for a south-east asian style drink.

So, my half pint of the stuff is chilling away. Has anyone tried this before and what did they think?

Yeah, I did it. French Press overnight.

Produced a somewhat mild, but also a very tasty concoction.

Never went on to repeat the process.

I've threatened to do this a few times, never gotten round to it though. I may have a go this weekend though...

Forgot to mention that this of course does not have to be just drank iced / cold.

It heats up very well (microwave).

Although, iced with milk is quite nice.
