Had a look at the lots today and was a little disappointed with the quality of the stock - most aren't 'showroom condition'. If you're going with the intention of buying a newer model, its important to remember that the cars that are advertised as being under manufacturers warranty may not have their claims honoured by the importer if the service schedule hasn't been followed. I had a look at a couple of them and found either a missing or incomplete service history - there was a D5 for instance that was serviced once and was long overdue another.

For any budding entrepeneurs, there's a vast stock of parts - a lot of them appear to date back to the Austin Rover franchise era and would probably fetch useful money on ebay UK if you had the patience and the space. Some Land Rover and Volvo parts too.

As much as i'd be interested in going down to see what prices reach, i dont think i want to be seen down there and rub it in the mans face. Done a few deals with Chapmans, as well as some of the other lads.

Im sure someone can inform me of the outcomes tho??!

It wasn't a good feeling to walk around there today and to see the place deserted.

The auction is being handled by another company and I can't see any staff turning up (I know that I wouldn't be able to face it)

Just subscribing to this thread. If anyone goes up will they try and get me a price on the two RR's? Merci beaucoup.

Pity to see someone so long established, gone.

Was going to go but have to go and price a job now instead. Will someone keep an eye on the tyre changing machine a see how much it makes please.

The 02 Range Rover is there a long time and nearly a 100k on it be interesting to see how much it makes.

Might pop over. They have nothing of interest to me though. Do they have any Defenders? Would have been VERY interested in one of those but bought a roughish 4x4 before the builders went belly-up. Coulda saved myself a bundle & gotten something more interesting if I knew the industry was so close to imploding.

Sad to see Chapmans go TBH. My father bought a Rover off them years ago, had great times in that car... The Rover 600 did really well in Ireland for a short time back in the early-mid '90s, just as the (pseudo) Celtic Tiger was taking off...

no - just Freelanders, Discoverys and Range Rovers. From the interest that I saw yesterday, the LRs will be the stronger sellers. Not much interest in the cars when I was there.

Freelanders are as small as a Fiesta inside - they are just more expensive to buy and run...

Thanks. Injectors for the RR could be fairly pricey i would think, maybe its not that good a bargain.

That was the auctioneer's diagnosis and he was keen to point out that there could be other issues. If there was a fuel pump involved then it could get even more expensive. A good few of the 'trade only' Land Rovers had injector problems listed - don't know if it's a LR weakness or whether they were all misfueled at some stage.
