2CV Club?

For a few years now, i've been toying with the idea of gathering a few 2CV enthusiasts to form some sort of a 2CV Club, something informal and fun. There are quite a few 2CVs out there but there seems to be no irish club that caters for these cars.

It would be fun to have the occasional outing and useful to share knowledge/experience.

Anyone out there interested or know of anyone that is?

    True :D:D

You'd have to get the 2CV 007 version though, with the bullet holes

Well i didn't know her that well, only met her a couple of times. She seemed alright to me... Not my place to judge...

But to be totally honest... didn't feel all that welcome... the people in the club are very VW focussed and have not interest in anything other than that (most of them anyway, not all). Now there is absolutely nothing wrong with being focussed on the car that you love, i do the same. But if you run a club that caters for several different makes, you should be open to cars other than VWs, and that's where i thought the club was lacking.

Having said that, nice bunch of people (again most of them, not all of them :)) but i didn't really feel like the club was right for me... I guess that i realised that on our trip to Berlin...

Mmmmm, i appreciate the "cheapness" of your comment :D now you show me one "budget" car that was designed in the 1930s that successfully passes an NCAP crash test and i will happily kiss your feet

Sister's one was hit by a Golf Gti which slid 150m on it's roof after peeling everything from the badge to the front door off the 2CV. She had a little cut on her finger!

    I rest my case! :D

Most people have these preprogrammed ideas in their heads... Volvo = safe, 2CV = unsafe.

Also, what i've noticed with the 2CV is that you either love it or hate it, and there's nothing wrong with that. But it might be time for people to start respecting other people's choices and passions and stop slagging them over it. We all have different tastes and passions, live with it.

Personally, the sight of a Ford Escort makes me wanna vomit, but i respect people that love them. Maybe it's about people started doing the same!

I think this is very true. I have been quite taken aback at the way some people carry on

There's a certain mentality, endemic among classic car anoraks, where they feel entitled to bluntly express distaste for your choice of classic, or laugh or even get snotty / rude

I have brought my car to classic car restorers and they turn down their nose as soon as they see my classic isn't an Austin-Healey, Jaguar E-Type, 60's Mini Cooper, Citroen DS, or Porsche.

That's a great idea 2CV, I have an 83 Charleston. A club would be a great idea. Go for it.

yes but if you put two cars of the same year into each other you'll walk away grand ( having put a k10 micra into a ax at 30... notihng more then a sore hand. )

    new cars are too rigid...

also american muscle was affordable back in the day, but not now ( thank god )

also not many cars are in production that long, but theirs plenty that are, for me, a better purchase... though don't get me wrong... theyre still used in 24 hour racing ( engine change in about 15 mins ?? )

Oh very nice... Which one is it? The burgundy/black, two tone grey or the ever so rare yellow/black?

Actually, the one I have now was rebuilt from scratch and it has my own design of colourscheme. It is Dolly cream and sage green but still in the Charleston design. I did have a black and maroon one before though.
