    is it true that ice cream has a different name up the north???

    what do you call it??
    is it still called a 99 if it has a flake in it?? wb a.s.a.p.

    The only different name unique to the North is 'poke' meaning an ice cream in a cone. 99 is used for a poke with a flake. Look out for Rossi Italian ice cream in Belfast (secret family recipe) delicious and Timoneys in Newry similar type Italian ice cream. Have never tasted a comparable Italian ice cream in any other part of Ireland.
    No idea where name 'poke' comes from.
