Glueing things to a dash

I want to attach something to my dash. It came with suckers on it but the position (and probably the surface) means they don't work very well. I don't really want to use a glue or something and was thinking large quantities of blue tak? Any recommendations?

3M double sided tape, blue tak isn't worth a damn for anything other than hanging a 3 year olds artwork on a fridge.

Is it a Sat Nav? If so, the information leaflet usually advises sticking it to the windscreen.

I used this to 'hang' something from down low on my dash, found it not that good so went to local sign shop and got the double stickers for sticking on number plates...fantastic job.

    And I was a 3M believer!!!

I forgot to mention that while it should be sturdy enough, I should with some effort be able to take it off when I sell my car, it shouldn't be a permanent addition to the dash.

Have you tried these power strip thingies?

If what you're glueing isn't too heavy, they might work

Tell us what you are attaching, and you might get more suggestions. You can get non-slip mats which are pretty good. If it happens to be a Garmin Satnav, then you can get a beanbag mount. I got one on the advice of a couple of people here a few weeks ago, and it's brilliant.

What are you trying to mount on the dash?

In my experience there are very few things that stick well to dash plastics, most will end up falling off.

Whatever you are trying to mount there may be a Brodit mount (http://www.brodit.com/) which you don't have to drill the dash for.

Don't clean your dash with silicone based spray or nothing will stick to it.

if its something you dont want there all the time get the velco stickers.
But as above, if we knew what it was....

If he doesn't tell us what it is, then I'll presume it's a dildo.

My Satnav came with a double sided stickey pad along with the suction device. I think most of them do this, so I doubt he is attaching a satnav.

So did mine, which stuck for about 20 seconds before coming off :(

It's something between a dildo and a satnav (it leads me to the nearest house of ill repute).

It's not really a secret what it is, but the setup I have for it is very very difficult to explain, so it was easier just to say, I need to attach something heavy to a awkward position on my dash and what's the best way to do that?

    So what is it?

Dont stick anything to the dash where it may interfere with the airbags should they need to go off or you could get that secret obect inserted in your face

It must be a sat nav dildo? 'Sexual experiences when you just cant find where to put it' :D

Double sided tape/velcro strips/3m tape are all very good. For a few weird things, Ive combinded various parts of that list to good affect. Failing that, you coukd go for some of the 'gum' halfords sell.
