Speeding fines - time limit??

After leaving the comfort of my cabin in the woods last decemeber, got pulled in doing 80kph on the wonderful N3 (there was bollards up and marked at 60kph ) even though everyone was passing me out, I got waved in and a non-apologetic Garda who was shooting fish in a barrell took my details and sent me on my way.

The fine only arrived yesterday, nearly 3 monts later.

I presume there isn't any time limit on these things.

    Haven't left the cabin since.

Thanks - I'm aware of the 3 years of fun ahead. Managed to pick up 6 pts last year, all in 60kph zone :

    road into Chapelizod from town,
    long mile road
    and the wonderful N3.

Will cycle from here on in.

    For sure.

It's not from the date of payment. It's from the date the points are added, which is on the letter you get after you pay. I got caught by a Gatso in Jul/Aug and paid in Nov, points only went onto licence on 22nd Dec and have them for 3 years from then.

Understood, it is a bit of a pain that I was pulled in Dec 08 but don't get the points until Mar 09 but I guess it could work in your advantage if you were close to the 12 mark.

I've had 2 points removed last year and obviously decided to celebrate by driving over 60 kph where possible.

I feel slow drivers are as much a scourge on our roads as the lunatics who go too fast, the number of times I've come accross a line of traffic which has 2 or 3 cars at the front well under the speed limit.

They won't be ever in an accident but will cause plenty.

You are actually really right there.. they really do cause so many accidents I dont care what people say people are forced to pass people doing like 80 on a 100 road they get so frustrated and angry and just do it at the wrong time and there's your accident... and is it always people driving toyota yaris's ffs!!

my pet hates.. people driving excessively slow and people who drive toyota yarises:mad::mad:

and i nearly got knocked down twice my 2 different toyota yarises last week

never mind extra loadings for modified cars should be huge loadings for people with a toyota yaris:D

I think it should work like this :

Person arrives into car dealership, exchanges plesantries with the salesman, then salesman asks person what (s)he is looking for.

If the reply is any of the following: Yaris / Micra

Salesman will then ask for proof of driving license and when he gets it, he simply shreds it.

Your license has been revoked, have a nice day.

    :)

They're all a shower of..............oh wait. You're a serial offender! If you cannot learn from past mistakes what hope is there for you. I'd prefer you cycle.
