I bought a bike tonight. i happened to be on my way to a friends house when the exchange took place. so as you can imagine several bev's were consumed. at this point i decided cycling home was the best course of action, granted a slight level of inebriation had been obtained at this stage. now i find myself with a pretty much unknown bike in my bedroom with very little memory of what happened the previous evening. how best should i approach this?? if only i had brought home a strange bed buddy... everything would be so much easier

You bought a stolen bike off a junkie in the street when you were locked? Ten million negative karma points to you, buddy.

You could bring it in to the cops on Kevin Street, although its unlikely it will ever be reunited with its rightful owner - better yet, to clean your conscience, you could donate it to a charity shop somewhere for them to sell.

I'm no bike expert, so but common sense would say:

    If you want it:
get it's colour changed, add some stickers or something, etc. to change its look.

    If you don't want it:
Cycle around on it, and when someone says "hey, that's my bike" give it to them and explain how you got it.

Does it perchance look like this?

If you want to be a fucking scumbag piece of shit:
get it's colour changed, add some stickers or something, etc. to change its look.

fixed that for you. nice advice there. you're a real class act.

OP - it's stolen. obviously. you know. i know. the scummer you bought it off knows that too. do your best to get the bike back to it's original owner. it must have some distinguishing features, withhold these in an ad. the real owner will be able to tell you them without seeing the bike first. ask to be paid whatever you paid last night. i'm guessing it wasn't much.

don't buy stolen bikes (i don't care how drunk you are), it's a really shitty thing to do.

    +1
I add my support to this post.
For all you know someone got mugged for that bike and now that the seller has proven his "business model" someone else will get done too.

    sorry for any confusion caused.
    This is the bike http://www.adverts.ie/showproduct.php?product=96572&cat=fav
was on my way to a friends house when i picked it up.i just dont remember the trip home. was really wondering if it's bad form to cycle under the influence

ok. your first post really gave me the impression that you, while drunk, bought a bike on a whim in order to get home. and that you were slightly worried that you might have done a bad thing.

    read it again yourself.

    see?

    fuji track. looks nice.

i'll forgive you the drunk cycling on the following conditions:

    1) post clearly in future. if you're "not being serious", and you can't convey that tone in words alone, maybe you should use a special font or something. i dunno.
    2) never, ever, let me find you coasting on that bike. ever.

Drunken cycling is fine, it's even better if you don't remember the ride home (has happened to me on occasion if I'm honest)

Just remember to use lights! :)

I think the most important question is what was the bike doing in your bedroom.

    Don't go giving cyclists a bad name.:pac:

I'm only new to cycling, what if my legs get tired. I know very anti-euro (and not in a good way) but seriously i can't pedal the whole way. i'll have to flip the wheel so its fixed to keep me from committing this crime.
