UPC/ NTL have changed there box.
There is no USB out on it.

Rang them & they said some boxes have USB connections but they are disabled

Does anyone know if there is any UPC box that have a USB connection that you can connect a laptop to record tv?

Used to record the odd programme,
will have to switch to Sky if there is no way of doing this, assuming the Sky box have a usb connection

Neither Sky or UPC boxes allow recording of TV via USB

You would have to get a Sat Tuner card for your laptop...even then you could only record Free-to-air channels from Sky... No Pay Tv channels would be available.

NO UPC/NTL/SKY box has ever support recording via USB.

Only way to record to your laptop would be via the SCART and a TV capture card on the laptop.

Ok, should have said - I have an external tv card, the connection went from the NTL box into this, then into my laptop.
I was then able to record the current channel.

Does anyone know if this can be done on the current Sky Box ?
i.e. Is the current USB connection, which I know is on the SKY+ box,
actually work or is it disabled
(like what UPC customer support have told me they have done with their boxes???)

I can use Scart ok, but then I wont have the digital signal which I get from the sat box - so is poorer picture quality
    Thanks

You need your own FTA satellite card/adaptor. It's not likely you can ever record direct digital on Sky Box.

If you have a HDD/DVD recorded you can record onto these.
