    Hi guys,

I've been searching for a few days on this matter now.

Im getting a legal reflective number plate for the car made. its a stick on one because i dont want to drill any holes in my new bumper.

I have a guy who does these from england and hes more than happy to do this but he needs the legal font used in the numbers and letters. If its any help font over in england is called a "purchase only font".

    Thanks guys
    Steve

it's a rigid plate? or a viynal sticker? If it's a rigid plate you need, there's plenty of places that can make them up in Ireland.

There is no font defined wihtin the legislation (see here) but the width, height and spacing is defined.

Because they impair the ability of the ANPR and Speed camera systems to read your plates.

If you get caught on the ANPR cameras your will be fooked.

sorry i fail to see how a reflective skicker is differnet then the normal reflective plate. the only difference is the 2.5mm of clear plastic over it. both should be fine on the ANPR

The ANPR takes 6 steps in the process and i cant see it failing on any ?

    1. Plate localisation – responsible for finding and isolating the plate on the picture
    2. Plate orientation and sizing – compensates for the skew of the plate and adjusts the dimensions to the required size
    3. Normalisation – adjusts the brightness and contrast of the image
    4. Character segmentation – finds the individual characters on the plates
    5. Optical character recognition
    6. Syntactical/Geometrical analysis – check characters and positions against country specific rules

Take a picture using a digital camera with a flash and you'll see straight away if its suitable.

That doesn't alter the fact that ANPR systems, speed cameras and other number plate recognition systems, all work perfectly well in the UK where they have reflective plates front and back.
