    Hey everyone,

Normally I post advice here but this time I need some. Basically I bumped into someone I knew quite a few years ago when we were the best of friends, stuff happened basically which tore us apart but throughout my life he has remained in my thoughts and in my heart. He looked a bit rough which I thought may have just him being a stoner, we exchanged numbers and were texting & I fancied having a catch up so I met up with him last night. I asked him if he was stoned and he said yeah so I asked him if it was just blow and he said yeah amonst other things. To cut a long story short he is taking every pill imaginable to man & has been at heroin the past 4 years. I know I havent been part of his life a very long time so I prob shouldnt interfere. He told me not even his parents know so I feel by him telling me he's asking for some sort of help. I badly want to do something because I feel theres a reason for me meeting him after all these years....Im not a big believer in fate but I feel really strongly about this.
What should I do just disappear into the background & pretend I never saw him again or just be mates with him & ignore the fact he is killing himself.

    Really confused........

You could start by talking to him about it more. Does he want help? An addict can't be made quit what they're addicted to, they need to want to break the addiction themselves.

And dont I know it. I have a close family member thats an alcolholic & though she was in & out of rehab she just couldnt give up & is on deaths door one thing I learnt from AA is that the first step is admitting you have a problem. I dont think he knows what he wants to be honest, he said last night that he wanted to stop but was saying nobody knows how hard it is. He said his parents only had a vague idea what was going on.

Hi Maddison. I know some really helpful people who you can contact, and who work in the field of addiction, about this issue, and they will probably be able to give you some advice. Ill PM you.
