Wacky Races

After a bit of banter about unusual races over on my training log (http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2055414877&page=13), an idea evolved to this point so far. I just want to see if anyone likes it, or if anyone has suggestions for other "Wacky races" or unusual runs.

    24 Hour 1000 mile challenge
    From amadeus:
Back when the 1000 mile challenge first came up it crossed my mind that an excellent challenge would be 1000 miles in 24 hours. Get 6 or 8 treadmills and a team of 30 or 40 people and it could be done...

    From me:
    No need for dreadmills...

There's 79 people on the challenge right now. We need one more for this idea to work. You pair the person at the bottom with the one at the top. +1 and -1, and so on, until you have 40 teams of two. Each team commits to running 25 miles in a given 24 hour period, then there's your 1000 miles in 24 hours.

    *Bangs head on wall*

must learn to think before I post!!

ok - only one comment on this, if we did it as pairs and spread all over the country we wouldn't be able to claim it as any kind of official record and it wouldn't be verifiable (we don't all have Garmins). Wouldn't stop us doing it, or fundraising off it though obviously. With static treadies we could verify distance and have an observer. We could also do it with smaller numbers of participants. Either way it would def. be a new challenge!

You can count me in as well, assuming it's post Rotterdam

I'm actually not on the 100 mile challenge (due to football training not counting as real miles...) but I would certainly do this - so we have 80 now!
