Seeing as this seems to be on the rise, I think it best it be put a stop to now.

Unnecessary abuse e.g. "that fat ****e" "why are we talking about that muppet" etc. will NOT be tolerated on this forum.

A first offense will result in an infraction. A second will result in a week ban.

Its really really not on, and not something that any of us should be encouraging.

Note: this doesn't stop you from making comments like "I think blah blah is crap because blah" - I'd view that as alright, kinda, but for one its just lazy as hell.

I'll leave this open for a day or so just for any feedback relating to this.

Edit: just to add, if you see any of this kinda stuff, report it and i'll deal with it ASAP. I'm not on every minute of the day or anything, but i'll try to get to it when I can. Please do not start having a go at the poster for it, because it'll just fire off into a ****efest.

Agree'd, nearly every thread these days seems to devolve into a war of words. We're a highly opinionated bunch of feckers :pac:

Completely in agreement here there's far far far too much of that going on in the Rugby board.

...or a bunch of juveniles incapable of debating a point without descending into idiotic point-scoring and even more idiotic personal abuse..I hope this marks a turnaround in policy on the rugby forum, as 'twas not always so on here. I've lately found myself shaking my head at the standard and tenor of debate on some of the threads here.

I'm all for zero tolerance in regard to the kind of idiotic, and worse still ill-informed and poorly argued, nonsense which is becoming all too common on the forum. Basically, the bottom line is if you wouldn't be man enough to make a comment to someone's face while they're standing in front of you, you shouldn't make it online...a little courtesy can go along way..there..thats better, rant over...

Constructive criticism of a player is fine IMO. Unsubstantiated, ill-informed abuse is unncessary and unhelpful to any discussion. Go and support football if you want to do that kind of thing.

Thanks Crash for doing this - I'm all for constructive criticism, but some of the player abusive comments here (with no arguement to back them up) would give Gwlad & Planet Rugby a run for their money.

    Fairplay.

Could this be extended to Munster vs Leinster jibing as well? As a supporter of both teams, I find it to be very irritating. Particularly the stereotypes of the 'D4 Dort' head with the 'bleach blonde' hair. I'm a bald, working class northsider and I feel left out, even though I played rugby for 20 years.

I'm going to talk to the other rugby mods concerning starting a feedback thread on this forum as to what you guys like about it, where you see the faults in it, and what you see as fixes for this. I'd like to plan a kinda rewrite of the charter, and try to focus it more on constructive discussion as opposed to the back and forth ****e that goes on from time to time, and derails decent threads. (see the recent lions one for the best example - I've decided to leave that for the mo and start it as a new leaf).

One of the things though, and you'll have seen it with a lot of users who have posted stuff here that have been reported, is that I refuse to ban a user for having a "bad" opinion - they may be ill informed, they may have incredibly one eyed opinions, but that is in no way a reason to stop a user posting on this forum. Hell, I get really annoyed when the Leinster stereotypes come out, seeing as I don't fit the majority of them, but once its within the bounds of decency, i'd consider it fair game. Unfortunately, one of the knock on effects from this, is that many of the regular posters have recieved PM's, infractions and bans as results of arguments that have ensued from this.

As a result of this, i'd like to ask that those of you who post on here regularly, who are well informed, know their rugby, to take a step back when they see those posts. Argue with them for a bit, but try and realise, especially around 6N time, AI's and Lions that there are gonna be people who are not regular posters or followers of the sport, and that it may not be possible to change their minds. And in fact, attempting to do so can lead a decent discussion thread into Tit for Tat arguments.

Anyhow, i'll leave this for tonight, tomorrow i'll come back to it, hopefully talk to a few people and maybe start the feedback thread. Oh, and update my 6N fantasy choices - Beauxis is in both my teams :S
