Are there any cinemas that play not-new-releases?

Would there be a market for this?

    I don't think there are.
All you can do is keep an eye on what's on in the IFI. They do show a certain amount per year. I seen Tron there last year. :D
They recently had a Sam Peckinpah season. Really wanted to see Convoy, The Osterman Weekend, Bring me the head of Alfredo Garcia, The Wild Bunch, The Getaway and a few more in the cinema but I unfortunately forgot all about it. Doh!!
I dunno if there'd be a market for it, amongst us film geeks certainly. I'd love to see any of my favourite movies in the cinema. About ten years ago Virgin cinema did it for awhile but it didn't last. Still, I got to see Escape from New York, The Thing and Assault on Precinct 13 there. I'd give my right arm for a showing of Smokey and the Bandit somewhere. :D
I know in other countries it's more common. There are a few in London that do it and lots in America. A friend of mine is in Vancouver and there is a cinema that show 2 classic horror movies every Friday night and he's seen An American Werewolf in London, The Howling and Ghostbusters recently. He also seen The Abyss, Blade Runner and T2 in another cinema there.
Ghostbusters is 25 years old this year so I'll be keeping an eye on the IFI in the hope that's on sometime.

Went to see Casablanca when it was in the cinema last year. Wasn't a lot of people in the screen when I went.

If you can read this, you're too close!

Cineworld occasionally show classics on the first Monday of the month. Think they run them in seasons though so you'd have to check.

IFI is your best bet for getting re-released classics and specialist seasons.

Cineworld in Parnell Sq. used to show a classic film once a month. I saw Blade Runner, Raging Bull, Terminator and loads more there. It was always a good night and a good few of the shows were sold out. They seemed to have stopped it now.

I lived in London for a while years back and there was a cinema there which ran themed nights of classics at the weekends. They showed classic films from Friday night through early morning Saturday - Horror, Sci-Fi, Westerns etc.

I think there might be. I heard someone saying cinemas do well in a recession. There will be a lot more people looking for daytime entertainment.

I'd love it anyway. Would it be expensive?
