    Hi,
Can anyone tell me what exactly the wiring requirements for sky + are. I want to install 2no boxes(multiroom) and have 2no magic eyes of each box.

How many co-ax cables rae required from the dish?
Do they go to splitters in attic and then to decoder or directly from dish to decoders.

    Any guidance appreciated

Personally, I have installed 4 sat grade co-ax from dish to my sitting room for 2 No. sky boxes (1 sky plus box - 2 cables, uk free to air box - 1 cable, with one spare for time when i upgrade to hd box whihc requires 2 sat grade cables). I had a preference for all equipment to be in one location.

I have a return sat co-ax to attic from sitting room (location of boxes) which is plugged into sky 8 room splitter (amp) in attic. Each room in house is fed back to attic to position of amp.

I use a sky plus combiner (from www.tvlink.co.uk) to link both rf2 outputs on sky boxs to 1 No. attic return feed. this allows me to control either box from any location (with use of magic eyes!!) in house.

I have also set up my dvd player using an rf modulator to allow playback of dvds around house..... and other simple setups!

If I have confused you, or you need further info let me know.

Thats a brilliant idea, how you manage that?

I am looking at the plus combiner, if the output of channels is on 2 different frequencies then i will deffo get one

You set the RF outlet channel number in the secret menu. Press
    [services] 401 [select] 4

So you can set 2 different frequencies and it should pick up the 2 different channels, cool!!

Must get me one of these

As others have commented, yes you can send the signal for the two sat boxes around the house.

I have simply set the RF Channel Nos at least 10 apart to insure I am not interfering with the signal off each box.

    Press Services, press 4, then

press 0 followed by 1 then select,

Select 4 RF Outlets, ensure power supply to RF outlet is turned on.

Change the RF Channel on one box to say 48 or 50 then simply tune in all your tellys,

    Sweet, cheers

One last question, the modulator for the dvd, is that tricky to set up??

Not tricky at all, I simply connected DVD to rf modulator via scart and then co-ax arial from rf mod to the aerial input of one of my sky boxes.

Behind the tv is messy enough with all the cables I have run to this point but hell, it works for me. Next time round I will store all equipment in a closet and wire the necessary (hdmi/scart or others) cables from closet to tv.

If you want to control dvd player from around the house - I have used powermid infra red transmitters / receivers (www.laser.com).

I have a transmitter in all rooms with one no. receiver behind my tv. into this receiver, I have plugged mini mouse emitters which (www.laser.com) are then stuck on the infra red receiver pane of any desired equipment (e.g. DVD player).

Works a treat, and means I can watch/control a dvd from kitchen, bedroom etc......

    Hi

I got the tvlink box this morning. only had a quick mess around with it but i noticed i still cant change the 2nd sky box.

Is there any special way of setting it up?

I have the sky+ going into 0, the old sky box going into 1. The tvlink then feeds into a 4 way distribution point.

On the other tvs i can see the 2nd sky box, just cant change channels.

Any help would be great, thanks
