Are these 2 really popular in UCC? I always see the real kind of fashionable, preppy 'posh' students around the place with their iPhones around the place and they certainly not from CIT :) do most people in UCC also go for facebook rather than bebo or any other thing?

"Back in my day" (04-08) it was bebo, but recently a lot of my friends have gotten into facebook, presume it's just a trend. No one I know can afford an iPhone :D

suppose its the latest fad alright. i know a few people with iphones but i don't think they in ucc. a lot of older folk have them

Not too many people can afford iphones, so their popularity is somewhat limited. Bebo is still more popular too, as far as I can tell. CAn't recall ever bein asked if i was on facebook! Although I'm not all that into bebo...

Could be that Bebo is blocked from a few UCC computers? And they need some sort of social networking site to waste their time on!

Isn't that what boards is for?

Does Boards look like a social networking site?
I wouldn't call it a waste of time either! If you think so, delete your account or don't use it. ;)

i dunno but it does a better job at social networking than any of the purpose built social networking sites do. really those social networking sites have the net effect of making people less social. it could be the death of kids socialising in real life but thats another story for another day. now i'm dragging my own thread offtopic and thats never a good idea

    Agreed.

I've only seen a couple iPhones around, but whoever has one sticks it out in front of 'em to boast about it. IMO and maybe a little off-topic, Facebook & iPhones aren't the only popular things in UCC - I despise those Ugg boots. *shudder*

you know there are some people who actually do despise iphones for legitimate reasons and are not jealous at all?

Not so much iPhone despising, just people who boast about their material possessions- despising ;)

i would imagine that a lot more people are going to be switching to facebook in the near future, givn what bebo is doing with its new layout. As for iPhones, i have only seen one on campus,

i think bebo are just trying to make it look more like facebook. i'm gonna stop using those ****ty sites altogether i think

i only go on bebo if i get an email about a comment/message/friend request. However the amount of spambots they have on atm is ridiculous. I have gotten 26 messages in the past two months. They all have stupid names as well.

and those people are far outnumbered by the jealous, non-iPhone owning majority:p

any old fool can buy an iphone. loads of them for sale around the place if you don't want to do the whole proprietary o2 lock-in thing. really no need to be jealous. its not like a freaking vertu phone that costs 30k.
