R.S.A. want more rules brought in for N.C.T. They are gunning for tinted windows and more. Log on to their web site and give your views. Its just more reasons to fail an N.C.T. test and more nanny state rules. Banning front tinted windows will not save any lives. If its a security issue deal with it by legislation in the Dáil on Garda recomendations. Thats why I vote. I didnt vote for the R.S.A.

So long as nct cert is not needed for insurance it is a waste of time. Its at a gardas discretion to look for a multitude of car related issues including all those not subject to nct. Legislation would fill a warehouse, it doesnt follow that it increases a gardas workload only that it helps empower them. His hours regardless of leglislation are still 35 a week, that will not change.

I never let a car out of a junction that has tinted windows. Mainly because you've no idea where the driver is looking or what they're intending on doing. Without that bit of eye contact it's a safety issue for me.

But the value of the work done in that time can.

My point is they have more important thigns to be doing with those 35 hours than to be checking trivial things that should be done on the nct. It's the easiest and most efficient way of going about things. Look for stuff when the car is already in for a test.

your missing the point but I can see you wont be converted. Maybe you also missed the point when advisory points became full fails. If its such a trivial point the RSA should forget about it so and maybe find out why nct compliance is poor, you can still tax and insure without it. tax compliance is poor even insurance uptake is far too low. Do you see a trend? No need to answer..

Dont have them, besides only d.o.e. for me. God does everyone just want to roll over and take one up their rear. No wonder the gombeens get bigger votes every time they get caught with their hand in the cookie jar.

Are you still talking about front tinted windows?

Clarity of windscreen and front side windows
Excessively tinted windscreens or front side windows present a significant safety hazard for drivers and their occupants. It is proposed that the glass in the windscreen and front side windows will be required to have a light transmission level of not less than 65% in order to pass the test.

just read their website, i have tints and have done all all my previous cars, but i gotta say i have no objections with the above being brought into place. that translates as a35% tint which is what i have on the rear of my car at the moment. it will only affect people that want limo tints all round.

but i do have a problem with them trying to introduce anual testing for 10 year old cars, like FFS another cost to the motorist, as if every two years wasnt enough!

    35% tint on rear ^^^^^^^
