hello all just discovered that when i start my ford fiesta zetec 1225cc theres water dripping from underneath the heater, and it virtually emptys my water tank.

would the problem be the heater core has gone in it?,also can you please advise on the handiest way to remove the heater core from my fiesta,as theres a black plastic box cover type thing underneath the heater.i persume the heater core is inside this black plastic cover box.

do i need to remove the whole dash to replace the heater core?.any help or advice would be greatly appreciated cheers.

The heater matrix can be removed from under the bonnet - it's under that black cover (with the two hoses going into it) just behind the heater control valve at the top of the bulkhead (sort of underneath the wipers). Get the Haynes manual, it explains removal pretty well with pictures too.

I have the Haynes manual right here - the heater matrix comes out through the top of the bulkhead, and it says nothing about doing anything with the dashboard to remove it. Your mechanic might just be saying that because that's usually the case AFAIK and he doesn't know for that specific car. You can get it in Halfords, some bookshops have them (might be able to order it for you if they don't have that particular one) and some motor factors prob get them too.

It seems like a easy enough job, unless your car has aircon.
