And im in shock , didnt think i would be affected at all.
Big plumbing and heating company in athlone you alll know who it is.
I'll be there until the 27th of march but i dont know what to do after that , i' never had to sign on the dole before, and finding another job is gonna be hard.
Even though they say they will help with outscourcing and counceling , no problem getting time off for interviews etc.
What do you do in this position.

    Verry pisssed off midlander.

I've been unemployed since just before xmas, and it is tough for everyone in a similar situation.
Keep your spirits up and think positive.
Use as much of your time to look for another job and don't wait until your finished in your present job.
Good luck with the job hunt!

What do you do in this position.

    Now:
    • Update your CV, and get it it there.
    • Look for jobs in the usual ways in your industry.
    • Use your network of contacts (friends, relatives, work associates) to see what else there is.
    • Start thinking about financial implications: make a plan A (out of work for a few weeks), plan B (for a few months), and plan C (out of work for a long time).
    • Start thinking about what else you could do instead, if you cannot find work in your preferred industry/area.

A few days before your final day:
    • Ring FAS, find out what hours your local office does new registrations.
    • Visit during those hours, fill in a form, see an officer.
    • Do some research about what you need to take with your to sign on (various .docs etc)

The first working day after you finish:
    • Visit your local welfare office to lodge a claim.

You will get another job, it might take a while and you will probably have to take less salary but you will get one.

It also very important to learn new skills or do training courses while you are unemployed. FAS eCollege is a good start, its free when you get job seekers benefit\allowance.

How many from the Athlone branch are affected? I heard the entire Tullamore outfit is closing?
