For those of us not going does anyone know a good pub for watching the races with lots of other punters sharing information etc?

Good idea for a thread! I usaully watch most of the cheltenham festival in dublin city centre but there is never much of an racing atmosphere in any of the pubs I seem to go to?? A bookies next door or at least nearby is essential tho!

I was never there for Cheltenham but maybe the Wool-shed (Aussie bar) on Parnell St. might be alright if you had a gang going. There is a Paddy Power and Boyles across the road.

Molloys on Talbot Street should have a few in it, with a multitude of bookies outside the door.

I dont know molloys on talbot st. but could be a good shout. I'd definitely oppose the wool-shed on parnell street tho. Horse racing would be the last thing on their mind and theres no atmospere in the place. Boylesports and paddypowers are also too far away from it! If your in that area, capel st would definitly be the best option. Plenty of pubs and plenty of bookies! Theres a little pub called boars head on capel street with celtic bookmakers next door and boylesports & Ladbrokes across the road! Tis a nice little spot.

I dont know what pubs in city centre have racing Uk tho. the likes of RTE only show the first 4 races!

I went to O'Neills on Suffolk st last year, Boyles on the corner, Celtic a little futher away on Dame st.

    Good Carvery too

Not sure where im gonna head this year, Capel st could be a good shout

the best place to watch it is at home IMO. You can get a few beers in the fridge if you want (altho I never drink when betting) and you can trade the races on Betfair and hear all the panel's verdicts on Channel 4/Racing UK

The Sackville Lounge which is down the lane beside clearys is a great spot for the racing.only a small pub but the craic is mighty and all horsey mad.ladbrooks right next door and paddys and hacketts less than a minutes walk.Eamon and bobby are the lads ho own it and will make you fell very welcome

Bowes in city centre beside Doyles, used to be good spot to watch racing, bookies next door. Haven't been there for races in a while though.

Sackville a good shout indeed, Sheehans a good racing pub as well off Grafton St with Laddys across the road......Woolshed a no no for horse racing in my opinion.

    Molloys also a fair shout....

The Ivy House in Drumcondra (Bar) does a free buffet every day of the festival. Big fire and place stuffed with punters. Bookies just down the road. Very handy.
