I know a guy who travels the world on buisness and swears by it. He uses it for skype to his wife when away, movies when he is on his own etc. No use for any games though, he ain't interested. Yes you need a plugged in headset for skype.

Personally, I played with one for a day and could'nt see any uses for it myself. Games are ok but "been there done that". Skype, I use on a wi-fi phone or my laptop so no use there for me. Movies are on dead UMD format and I am unwilling to fork out for a dead format. There is a sat-nav add-on but it ain't cheap. A regular sat-nav makes more sense.

Nice toy for a day but cannot see any use after that.

PSP-3000 is latest. Seen Byrnes World of Wonder Naas selling the last version for price of current one. Lots of varied prices out there, mainly in package deals.

    Thanks for your reply
Yes ,it looks good for skype but for internet browsing itself and for sending emails it looks very awkard for typing in letters, as u have to use a on-screen keypad!

It is awkward for doing any typing or internet browsing. But for games and watching movies I have never had a better device. I bought an 8GB memory stick for it and I have 3-4 emulators, some music and the rest movies on it. I dont play any actual psp games on it though, my hands are too big so using that horrible analogue stick gives me cramps in no time..

The skype on it is decent, but if you're going away a small laptop might be a better bet.

You don't need a headset with the PSP-3000, it has a built in mic

ah my original question got answered and only 3 months later :)

My friend who was thinking of getting it for travelling got it and has been using Skype on it for the last few weeks. Using the Mic on the PSP is a nightmare because I always get an echo of what i said to him back just before he answers my question. So the headset is the way to go. We had a chat the other night for over an hour and apart from the half a second delay it was as if he was in the room. I was using Skype on my iphone.
