Yeah the season ticket is the one to go for. Only a hundred quid and if you'd been last weekend and this weekend you'd already have it pretty much covered! There's a second international against the US in Athy on Sunday so the tickets for that one might be a bit cheaper.

I think its pretty bad that they are charging that much for tickets. Its a very short sighted approach. While boxing is hot in the country they should be trying to attract as many new supporters in as they can. Charge a fair price, get people in, they see a good show, and they will comeback again. Thus they can build up their live audience.

I would say theres a fair few folks who might have checked out the finals on tv and would be interested in going, but the ticket price will deter them.

Brian Peters is paying Cordoba €200,000 and who knows how much to Bernard.
According to that documentary on Dunne he got badly 'stung' on the Martinez fight so he's got to make that money back somehow. Now's not the time to use one of his fighters for attracting supporters but rather for making his money back.

He can attract supporters by giving more fighters fights in their home towns outside of Dublin so they can gain local support, and that's what he's been doing.
Of course I'd prefer for the fans sake if the tickets were lower, but this is a business and it wouldn't make sense for Peters to bankrupt himself(potentially) for the future of Irish boxing.

this topic isn't about peters. I fully understand the cost of putting on a world title fight and attractive undercard fights.

We are talking about amateur internationals in the stadium. Which the cost of running is quite an amount lower. And i think its far more important to set up a foundation where these nights are well attended far into the future, rather than to maximize short term profit. I guess you could consider it killing the goose to get the golden egg. I would like to see a situation whereby theres a lot of buzz about these shows, and this is the time to build the sport.

Bah, sorry about that dunno what's wrong with me.
I've no idea why the prices are so high, I mean they fight again a couple of days later in Kildare(granted a lot of the Ireland team changes).
Maybe it is a move to try and sell those season tickets, which are very reasonably priced.

But €40 and €50 for an amateur international ?.........that really is asking a lot.

Ah well....all set to go to this but it seems I've been priced out of the market.

80 quid for the cheap seats to bring my brother to an amateur contest. Hope they enjoy the half empty stadium.:(

That's a disgrace........esp in todays current climate..........they should be charging minimal charges to pack out the place and create a great atmosphere instead they just been blatantly gready

I also don't like the fact that they never have the price of tickets up on their website either. Its very difficult to find out what it costs.

That's good stuff. I like to know little details like this. So, 200k to Cardoba
He's the champ, I wonder if Dunne gets more or less?

MBC, I don't see how it's a disgrace at all. Go to a soccer match and you will pay this and more. The rugger is a hell of a lot more. It's a great nights entertainment and that's the bottom line. It's worth every cent if you compare it to other spots prices out there.

Some bloody nightclubs charge 20 Euro in.

That's why it pays to get the season ticket.

MBC made a valid point! Soccor and rugby are well established sports already in this country. They both have a huge fan base. Boxing doesnt! 50euro is a bit of a slap in the face to the loyal few fans who reguraly attend. If they were to charge half that I guarantee the crowd would be bigger than it will be tonight. Generating more exposure and profit! With the talent within the amateur boxing ranks alone the sport should be bigger in this country particulary after the success of the olympics!

Bren its a disgrace to charge the sort of money that should be charged to see pro's fighting, and they are all getting paid, some hansomely aswell-how are they going to build up an interest in the amateur game, the cost for running this event would be minimal, bringing the americans over and putting them up, there probably paying for that also if the truth be known..

The thing is the stadium is never packed for these internationals..........in fact last year against poland there were more polish than irish ............irish boxing is on a high at the moment......why not charge 20euro in pack the place out.....instead of over charging.........a few of my mates where coming in with me tonight........i've texted them and told them its 40........now im going on me own

The thing you must realise also is Rugby, Football and GAA are able to charge these prices and still get the crowds (i reckon that might change though with current economic climate) because the is demand is there........with boxing its really only members of clubs and others (which isnt many).

Thats exactly it. and the only people who can really sustain that type of price and fill venues constantly is the rugby, and thats been a super popular live sport for the last few years. Plenty of soccer and gaelic games dont sell out, and those sports are far more mainstream in this country.

im aware it will be a great nights entertainment, but you are still going to have your work cut out convincing people to pay 50 euro to see an ameteur meet.

regardless of what you think of the Bernard dunne card, Its a world championship fight in the O2 arena, and you could get tickets for the same price. When UFC was here tickets started from around that price. Pro wrestling tickets are generally cheaper than that. These are all big time shows, whether you like them or not. Im not saying any one is better than the other in terms of entertainment, im just saying that these are the type of thing you are competing with. Particularly in the case of famillys buying tickets to all go along to a show together. 50 euro per person is a fairly big commitment to make. If it was a little bit cheaper you would have a better chance of convincing people to take a chance on the show. When those people see a good show they will come back again and again, it should be viewed as a long term type investment.
