    Hi All,

I'm currently studying for some IT certs and I would like to setup a couple of virtual servers on a laptop, anyone know if quad core processors are available on laptops and is there a big difference in price.

Yes there are quad core laptops out there, the Dell precision m6400 comes to mind. But its far from cheap i think 3000 was the price the last time i checked, and its massive. Not worth it at the minute imo, unless people have other suggestions im not aware of?

Acer have one as well- but its a monster (think its a 17" weighing in at almost 6kg) and costs north of 2 grand. Will see if I can find the details.

The Advent 6555 has a Q9000 processor (and a high-end graphics card - Ati 4850) for about €1100. It looks like a rebadged MSI GT725 chassis.
It's just launched, possibly available in PC World here. I have no idea what the quality is like.

Seen it in PC world recently, its actually 1499 or maybe 1399 not to sure.
Its pretty plain looking for a quad core gaming laptop, nice outside cover.

A bit on the chunky side though and felt heavy and pretty solid.

Still a quad core laptop with a 4850 is an absolute steal at 1499

It's £999 in PC World UK, so I was just guesstimating the price. Didn't realise they had them for sale over here yet. If it's actually €1500 that's fairly lousy given the exchange rate.
