Is there another dose of that dreaded flu going around again? A few people seem to be sick from work, and my eyelids are feeling very heavy...

There is a real nasty strain around at the moment taking nearly 2 weeks to get rid of it. Throat like glass, sinus headaches, bunged up nose and
bad cough. I thought the cold I had before Christmas was bad but that
only took a few days to get over.

    I don't think this strain is man-flu.

Maybe it's bird-flu, you know the strain where you feel miserable and whinge/moan like a woman and are fit for nothing but sitting around the
house watching crap TV all day.

Yea popular "bird" flu that one..

    Frequent too.

Never get sick. As well as been blessed with devilish good looks and a dazzling personality the good Lord chose to bestow upon Pighead the sexiest of immune systems. Somehow it doesn't seem fair.

Please refrain from sticking out your tongue when in such close proximity to Pighead. Only Miss Piggy and Shep are allowed do that. Pighead trusts them 100%. Lord only knows where your tongue has been and what sort of germs it's picked up, Ronan.

Its these kind of protective measures that are the reason for Pigheads continued good health. Look and learn Ro.

I've only been off work twice in 10 years with sickness so not to worried about getting this.

Is it bad that I hope I get the flu this time 'round??!! I NEVER get these sicknesses that go around and I want to take a few days off work, sit in front of the TV in my duvet, moan all day, and get away with it!

Does anybody actually know what the flu is like?

I would rather work 12 hour shifts every day for a month solid than get the flu.

I thought I had the flu once - turned out it was pneumonia.

I just recently had the flu, yes a real flu and I agree totally with your statement. This is only the second time I have had the flu. Unlike a cold where you have sinus or throat issues, you are instead in the fetal position in bed covered in blankets, chills all over in a cold sweat. When you are not in that position you can be found puking or crapping your guts out and crawling back to bed with the tiny little piece of energy you can muster.

A wise man once told me, when you have a cold it's difficult to get out of bed. When you have 'flu you can't even think of getting out of bed.

Going by that obviously flawless logic, I have had 'flu only once, last year and it hit me the 2nd day of a new job. It was mother-frikkin awful, worst cold/flu ever!. Weeks later, I found out some of my co-worker's first impressions of me was that I was a whinger 'cause I kept complaining about how sick I was and how it was the worst cold I ever had. Then they got the infection too and said they could see what I meant then!!

Well the symptoms of infection are often actually the body's reaction to the pathogen - fever, rigors, mucus production, cough. So maybe you just have no immune system.
    Or you have AIDS.

Well that sounds like 'flu to me!

I've had a bit of a tummy bug for the last few days.

It's been awful, one minute I was fine, maybe a little tired and weak, other than that, grand.
I might feel a bit peckish, so I go down to the student shop and buy a nice blueberry muffin and a nice sweet milky cuppa.

Head back to the library, set down my cuppa, take a few bites of my muffin, and drink a couple of mouthfuls of the cuppa.

2 minutes later...I can't decide whether I'm going to faint or vomit.

I can't tell what's going to happen when I eat something. I just ate 3 slices of Nutella bread and Im fine, next I can barely get through half a muffin without feeling like a tiny alien is going to burst out of my stomach...

I had a big class of milk with the Nutella toast...

Right now Im fine...my tummy feels kind of acidy. It feels a bit like a hunger pang, but at the same time...a little upset.

I've not vomited at all, just felt pretty weak and tired:(

Anyone who goes to the doc with a cold/flu should be shot on site. Except the old and very young. Maybe asthmatics/COADers too. Everyone else....one bullet.....bang bang.

Yeah why have people started colds the flu! The flu is a very serious illness where you cant move out of your bed, lift any of your limbs, and are in severe pain for months. My mum and aunty got it once in england, and still remember it vividly. She sais she actually wished to die it was that bad.

Makes me laugh when people with a a sniffle go oooh ive got the flu!

This time last year I had that winter vomiting bug. It kicked in the morning after I went on a massive Jack Daniels binge. There is nothing worse than a killer hangover combined with the worst case of the squirts and projectile vomiting. You have to have the co-ordination of Muhammad Ali on speed otherwise you will crap yourself while kneeling in a pool of whiskey vomit.

    The horror...the horror:eek:

use vicks first defense and you'll never develop a cold. Brilliant is the only word to describe it even if it is a bit pricy.

And now added to that, since yesterday evening I keep feeling like I have to vomit ... but cant even manage any dry wretch. Stomach feels dodgy, legs get a bit weak now and again and I couldnt sleep at all last night on account of the dodgy feeling in my stomach, so now I've been awake constantly since 6.45am yesterday (Thursday), dodgy stomach, weak legs ... but at least the penicllin seems to be clearing up my chest infection, so every cloud and all that!
