I bought a Land Rover Freelander the other day which is only a 3 door but this car is registered as a 5 door , I am worried sick every thing else checks out i even have a record of the full service history, can this be a mictake that was done when it was been registered by the garage, is there a way I could get this checked out.
I have done the cartell.ie thing and everything checks out from tax to NCT so how could it be its registered as a 5 door when is only a 3 door could it be because its a semi convertable and the roof comes off?

    thanks in advance

Does the VIN # on the car match the one on the licensing certificate?

What makes you think it's registered as a 5 door? Is it the cartell check? If so, don't panic just yet - cartell can be quite scrappy with the details. Ring Vehicle Licensing and see what they have the car registered as.

the people in revenue arent always the most diligent/brightest.
ive a triumph spitfire which says
    body type - saloon
    doors -5
    on the log book
if the vin is correct(ish) its probably fine

Often registration info is wrong. I just VRT'd a bluemotion passat from UK. UK registration details stated it was 1968cc - when I know its only 1896cc. VRO guy told me they were all registered incorrectly in the UK - fairly easy typo and nobody bothered to fix it as it didn't affect car-tax, etc.
    Just check VIN/Chassis numbers / Engine No's.

when I did the cartell it said it was a 5 door and when I was doing a quote for car insurance on quinn direct when i entered the reg number it came up as a 5 door

When I imported my Golf GTI the VLC description was for the anniversary model rather than the 180bhp model that I have. It maybe a clerical error? I rang them and they corrected it

Now that you mention it, i've a Porsche 911 cabriolet registered as a Porsche 001, body type 'other'.

As long as Chassis matches when you receive your VLC back i would have no worries at all. if you have the NCT report the chassis NO. will be on this and you can mtach to car.
NCT would also have failed if the chassis on their system didnt match your car when test been carried out
As whats been already been said prob a clerical error
