    What has your laptop got?

Moved from Cable MMDS and IPTV!

    (Welcome to boards "Bilb")

You need a laptop with a built in TV out and adaptor cable from that to composite (the yellow connector). That port may or may not have audio.(most don't). An 3.5mm Jack to dual RCA connects laptop ear/lineout to the red/White sockets if the Laptop video doens't have audio. Laptop video out for TV is usually either a 4 pin mini-DIN S-Video or a 7 or 8 pin mini-DIN with various signals. The 15pin VGA connector isn't useful. A very few havev HDMI, which mostly only suits an HD TV.

Sounds like you are outputting from the "s-vhs" connector on your laptop and the "input" you have connected it to on your TV does not support s-vhs.

Post the make and model of your TV and we should be able to sort it out.

Also describe the cables you have going from the laptop to the tv.

Not really enough info there, but reminds me of an old laptop I had that had the same problem - that is until I went into the settings and selected PAL instead of NTSC. It was an s-vhs to composite cable too.
