Problem with Word (Office 2007)

    Hi

I'm running MS Office Home and Student 2007 on Windows Vista. I am having a recurring problem and I'm just wondering if anyone else has come across it.

If I open up Word, it's fine no problem, I type away, save etc but if I try to close it down I get a pop up screen telling me "Microsoft Word has stopped responding" etc etc. If I cancel this another screen comes up telling me they're looking for the problem then it restarts Word for me. THe only way to close it down is to cancel both of these screen msgs in time.

Also if I try to download a Word file, Word will open, but no document! Double clicking the file on the "downloads" window won't work either. In other words, I can't open Word downloads - very annoying!!

Any ideas? I have trying Repairing it from the COntrol Panel but to no avail. Is it worth my while uninstalling and reinstalling Office. If I do this, will it have any effect on Office files I have already saved???

    THanks in advance!

    ANy ideas?

If you don't know what the problem is would anyone have an idea what would happen if I unistalled Office - will all my documents be ok? I have backed up but I want to create as little hassle as possible!

Your documents will be fine. Uninstalling Office just removes the actual programs themselves. :)

Try changing your default printer. Ive seen some HP printers causing this when they are set as the default printer. If its your printer causing it try get an updated driver from the manufacturers website!!
