Anyone remember the thread about the huge mileage Volvo V40 that some Mad Irish fella (like Santa, he operated from a Grotto) bought on eBay UK, clocked down more than 100k miles and tried to sell here?

I'm glad that this kind of thing is brought to the public eye and that boards.ie and other forums show up in Google so that people can do proper research about a garage and not make a very costly and regrettable mistake.

Is it the same one they allegedly clocked? They look mighty similar!

As long as the motor trade exists you will have such actors, Caveat Emptor could have been created for this trade...

Got one over one such Sideways Sid in Benburb St early '90's, traded in a bulkhead knackered (scrap) Alfasud, 50 quid cash and drove away with a R5 GTL that was later sold for a profit. :D

Not often you get out on top.

They look mighty similar. That said, the current ad states the high mileage. That alone makes it look like the honest sale it probably is in my book.

Ive been in Madden car sales. Its a yard at the side/back of his house. Not a place I would buy from having seen it.
It was about 5 years ago, I saw an ad for a nice 3 year old A6 1.8T. Rang them up, they said the car was there. When I turned up 20 mins later, was told that car wasnt available. After making him aware of my displeasure, I had a quick look around, it was all rough auction type stuff and I didnt like the look of the place at all. About 20 cars there with alot of them rubbish

Why do you say that as if I'm stupid? It's gone bigger alloys, different lights (xenons maybe) from the looks of it and different front splitter along with a few other bits.. Yes, it is modified.

I wasn't trying to make out that you look stupid and I apologise if it appeared that way. But that is the Limited Sport Edition, slightly different to the regular Sport model we're used to because it was never sold here:

Ah ya sorry about my little outburst there lol!:o

Ya, pity they didn't sell them here, I actually have a thing for those, sports model looks very well on top of that then. Sports edition or not, she's still modified:D

Yeah the V40 was always a good looking estate car. Its successor, the V50, ain't a bad looker either.

We'll agree to disagree on that one!;)
