Hi, hope someone here can help. Im having a problem with my graphics drivers, whenever I install and turn on the pc it begins to load then shows a blue screen error then crashes. When i run in safe mode and uninstall the graphics drivers the pc works fine. I have tried downloading a different driver from the website (making sure its compatible) but problem persists and have checked the graphics card is seated ok, but no joy. The graphics card is NVIDIA GEforce 8800 GT and using vista 64bit. Any ideas? All help appreciated.

I seems the problem is with the driver alright... But I could be your graphic cards malfunction as well. Try different drivers first

Its been running fine with this graphics card, its about a year old. The only change on the pc is a new hardrive a couple of weeks ago, but its been ok since then too. Last week the audio stopped working, so I set a restore point, then the pc started to crash. In safe mode I uninstalled the drivers to fix the audio and realised then the graphics drivers are whats causing the issue as pc runs with all drivers except those, with the sound, so fixed that problem.

Well I'm having issues with my updates also, mostly with the sound... The thing I can advise to you, store all your info somewhere else and simply remaster. I'm cleaning my system like this each 3 months. If the problem persists after that than you have more serious issues, you should test you machine. But for now - remaster

Thanks for the reply. I should mention Im kind of new to computers, does remaster mean to reset the factory settings sort of thing? How do i do it?

No bother. I'm doing these things professionaly, but I don't think I can advert my self here... :)

Remaster - means reinstall Windows. Firstly try to restore your system using System Restore at soonest point, if that doesn't help, save all your movies, music, documents etc. somewhere (like external hard drive or DVD's) and reinstall windows. You should have a CD called Recovery Disc. Just put it into your CDROM, restart machine and follow the instructions. Just be sure you manage to finish the process :)

Cheers. Im downloading the recovery disc now. Is this a last resort or is there anything else I could try first?

When you start to tamper with drivers and system restore it's 50/50 or you'll be ok, or you have to remaster. Anyways it's advisable to remaster once a year to clean the system from all the junk. I feel real happy to see how my machine works after that it's like I bought it again :)
