    Hi guys
My 30gb ipod video has crashed badly, when I plug it into my laptop or pc it is not recognised and I get the message that the computer is looking for drivers for "tango digital platform" . As far as I know this is the software for a Sansa E280 not an ipod - why is this happening?, I cant even try to reformat the ipod because it is not showing up in the computer or itunes, can anybody help

    thanks

Try a reset of the iPod.

    Lock
    Unlock
Hold down centre button and menu for about ten seconds (be sure to press 'em at exactly the same time)
    iPod should reboot

    This clears 95% of problems.

Are you running MS Vista and what version of ITunes? When I Tunes 8.x was first released, there was a problem with the driver that was supplied to recognise the Ipod, and a fix was released in the next version of ITunes.

If resetting doesn't work, and as 3 DataModem says, it will probably fix it, perhaps try updating ITunes.

thanks for reply guys but i have the latest itunes installed and have tried all the various methods suggested to reboot ipod but to no avail, the biggest problem sems to be that the pc wont recognise it for what it is and therefore cannot install new itunes as it doesnt know it is an ipod or even re format as an externala harddrive
