Hi, I am just wondering does anybody know what the rules are with regards to winning a live event package on stars? My question is, do you have to play the event yourself, or is it possible to sell your seat privately, or allow somebody else to sit the tournament in your place? I know there are some guys on here who have won live packages in the past. Can anybody answer this?
    Cheers.

I highly doubt you'd be allowed sell the seat privately or allow someone to play it in your place. You may however be able to get a cash equivalent from stars.

normally they want you to play it yourself.

In the case of WSOP events they will give you cash instead (though maybe not as much, unless you actually play it)

If you have a really good excuse they will let you transfer your package to someone else or, if it suits them, to play a different similar event. You can't "sell your seat privately", you will have to negotiate selling it with Stars.

support@pokerstars.com have been quick and helpful whenever I've had to email them. It would be best to get definite information from the horse's mouth.

As far as i am aware any live package you win on stars the value of it is paid into you're account, fairly sure on this, but stand to be corrected.

I know one of the lads in the Eglinton won an LAPT package and couldnt go
They wouldnt let him transfer it to another person but he is allowed use it for another lapt package.
they wont let him use it on an ept and wont convert to cash.

You must play the event yourself.
I was actually talking to one of the Pokerstars guys about this in London and he said the're very strict on this.

Thanks for the replies. With regards to the wsop packages, do stars just credit your buy in and expenses in to your account and then you register yourself. Or, does this only apply if you have already won a package to the wsop via stars?

No to the 2nd part. I won (luckboxed) a WSOP package on Stars last year and the full amount of the package was lodged in my stars account. It was then up to me to organise flights, buy in etc etc etc. Your hotel will be paid for if you agree to wear their gear.(The Palms).

This is only because Harrah's won't accept registrations from pokerstars because they allow Americans to play on their site and they don't want to be seen to be in partnership with them for fear of any legal problems down the road
