Painting Stone Cladding?

Hi, a friend has stone cladding on lower half of the front of their house and wants help painting the entire exterior of the house the same shade of white.
I've never heard of painting stone cladding before, so was a bit wary permanently disfiguring his house.

Has anyone ever painted cladding before? And what do you reckon painting the house the same colour, cladding and pebble-dash.

Personally I hate cladding, but would leave it alone rather than take the risk.
