I am still fighting Paypal since Nov, over a returned defective item worth just under €200. The problem they originally closed the claim for was not providing no proff of postage, yet I sent the numerous times a very clear copy of the receipt showing the tracking number. This is shown on the An Post site as delivered. They closed the case and I appealed, sending all the information again. They have now closed the claim for a second time stating the very same "invalid proof of postage". I replied and asked them why they could see that the proof given shows the item was delivered and I got this reply...

"We have received your shipping receipt. However there is no seller's
address on it. Please provide proof of postage confirming that the
item(s) was returned to the seller. The proof of postage should be a
copy of the actual shipping label on the package that shows the
destination address and the shipping company?s stamp to verify the
    shipment date.

Proof of postage is important because it confirms that you returned the
item(s) to the seller and are eligible for a refund."

    WTF!!!!

I have never heard of this kind of bull****. Have you?

I'm not entirely familiar with what PayPal require in a dispute where you've returned the item but I believe you need to go on to An Post's website (http://track.anpost.ie/track/trackone.html) enter your tracking number and get the full information there. Your receipt just shows that you sent an item and what the tracking number is. If you sent it back in November, I don't think An Post would have the details available online at this point.

Well they do have a point actually. Proof that you shipped something means nothing, you could sent it to your best mate, this is why they need the proof of address you shipped it to.

As the previous poster suggested check if it is listed on the An Post web site and screenshot and send that.

This has come up before, both here and in the UK, where both An Post and Royal Mail have stopped giving out receipts that show the recipient's address. It basically means that neither seller not buyer (in the case of a return) have any proof of delivery.

When Paypal refuse your claim, there's not a lot you can do.

If you're looking for your initial payment to be refunded, then you can try a credit card charge-back, if you paid with a card. If you didn't, you're out of luck.

I will shortly be 50 years old and I have always been honest and intend staying that way, same as most people. It's a shame that we all get tarnished with the same brush due to the real dishonesty of some people.

When this is checked on An Post tracking it is shown as being delivered to the address that I was given as the return address. I suppose An Post are liars as well.

I paid by 3V visa, but I doubt I will be able to a charge back on that will I?
