    Hi,

I have created this thread as in the past few weeks I have become alarmed by the amount of people I know who are paying a LOT of money for stock trading courses / info that they could get for FREE.

For example many of these 1 day courses (now that is a joke - learn the basics of stock investing in a day!) are priced anywhere from €300 - €600+.

I can guarantee that there is no info taught at these courses that one cant pick up through reading books, going to forums or simply using google.

For those who want to learn to trade, one great site is Trade2Win.com, totally free. For books, well the list is v v long so check out the trade 2 win forums for advice.

I just cant believe how easily people part with their cash for these seminars / courses! Seriously, even if you just use google, you will save yourself a lot!!

    Rant over :)

Very good point, some companies are really taking the piss charging consumers for such courses. By reading a select number of books and through internet access beginners have a wealth of information that can be used to learn about the market. Probably the best way to learn about the market would be to set- up a simulation account and try to create a profitable portfolio.

Another good resource is seekingalpha.com, a very highly respected blog among professional investors & retail investors alike
