Black Diamon Tv problem

Wasnt sure what forum to put this in...

Have a big old Black Diamond CRT television. The power button at the front broke a long time ago and the only way to turn it on is with the remote. Well the remote just died on me and now I cant get the television on.

I have an old OneForALL remote which Ive tried to get working with the tv, but it doesnt seem to be functioning. Whether you have to have the television on before you try and tune in the new remote, I dont know.

There is a flap at the front with channel up/down, volume up/down and menu buttons but, frustratingly, none of these will turn the tv from stand by to power on.

Any ideas ? Id much rather not the throw the thing out as its pretty big and is handy for the bedroom.

You could try here to get the same one?

I dont have a one4all remote but all those 8in1 remotes have to be setup to work with certain tvs . Refer to its manual if you still have it. You might get some info here either.

Here is probably worth a look too

There are two ways to program the remote one is if you dont know the code you go into some method where the tv is on and you keep pressing the standby button until the tv turns off. This won't work as you cant turn the tv on.

What might work is if the remote has the facility to enter the code find the remote code online and put it into the remote and you might be able to turn the tv on that way.

Failing that by an identical remote off ebay or go back to the shop you bought it in.

Most BD TV's I saw, it was always possible to turn it on from standby by pressing the Pr+ button on the front of TV. Are you absolutely sure it's the remote that's banjaxed?

Codes worth trying are Philips and Beko.

Might be worth a shot, I had a TV for 10 years or more with a broken power button , what i did was wedged a straightened paper clip in it between the case and the button an low and behold we had power to the tv ;-)
