Hi. I wouldnt normally bother to reply to posts but feel strongly like i should warn you about The Grand. Was a guest at a wedding here. Im sure its an expensive place to get married-due to the location etc. But It was the worst wedding Ive even been at. The food is just awful. You dont expect the best things food wise from a wedding but it was terrible. Veg all grey and microwaved. Dessert was defo bought in frozen and not even thawed out properly. The staff were very rude. I was starving and dont eat melon which was the starter. So I asked if i could have some bread (which were all on a table at back of room) but the said no you cant you have to wait until the soup.

The room was terrible. Very little effort put into decoration of it, to make it feel nice for a wedding. Was also freezing and this was summer. Also, totally felt like the staff were on a production line: ie no personal service as its a wedding day to make it special. Basically get the food out and then we can get out of here.

At the end of the night felt you were in a nasty nite club the way the burly security shouted at us to get the hell out of the room. Not like any other wedding Ive been at that for sure.

If you have any choice Id stay well clear of the place. they will go to no effort to make your day special....as a wedding day should be!

I also normally don't post but I agree that the Grand is not a good option. They refuse to even dicuss available dates with you unless you come down in person. I live overseas so this is obviously not an option. I got a bad feeling from this straight off - if I can't even get an idea of dates out of them I can only imagine how difficult it might be to organise anything else!

For all the recommendations I give on here, I actually had my wedding in the Grand. I cant speak for anyone else but I couldnt fault them.

We had the wedding on a bank holiday weekend and were booked into a bridal suite which wasnt the penthouse suite which I believe is very expensive. they rang the week before to say noone was booked into the penthouse for that weekend so upgraded us for the saturday and let us stay on sunday as well where we had a monster party.

Everyone booked in for the weekend on a 2 night deal, everyone was happy.

Havent been back in a while but My in laws were out in the restaraunt last week for food and were raving about it.

The Grand was by far the worst venue I've been to a wedding in. The food was woeful - overcooked roast beef with limp veg. The worst thing was the draught beer - I didn't see anyone attempt more than 2 pints of Guinness and the other beer was equally as bad. The prices were shopcking too - €7 for a glass of wine!

On the plus side it held 220+ people quite well and the toilet facilities were perfect.

I shot a Christmas party there for around 250 people and they were very pleased with the service and food, not a wedding but still relevant. I eat there myself and despite the kitchen being busy with the party the service and food was very good.

Might be best to visit on the day of a wedding and see yourself?
