According to the Irish times the Simpson's are coming to Ireland for St. Patrick's' Day

The episode will be broadcast on Sky 1 and Sky1 HD St Patrick’s Day, Tuesday 17th March at 7.30pm.

Woo-hoo! The Simpsons are coming. On St Patrick’s Day Homer and Grampa will come home in an episode being broadcast in Ireland ahead of its transmission in the US for the first time in the 20-year history of the show.

    cant wait

No doubt every Irish person in the episode will be portrayed as drunks, Does anyone think this is a bad stereotype. What if they made an episode with loads of African American people picking cotton or some stupid stereotypical activity like that... Id say the Simpsons wouldnt last too long then!!!

As long as its not full of the ladedah clichés it should be very watchable as opposed to the cringeworthy stereotypes of the past

Chances of this are slim to none.

It's the equiviliant of getting the world premiere of a new Police Academy movie.

No doubt the Irish media will be falling over themselves to get a soundbite from Nancy Cartwright, like dogs rummaging thru the rubbish bins for yesterdays leftovers.

Why couldn't they have done this 12+ years ago when the show was (imo) at it's funniest? :(

I don't mind them portraying us in a stereotypical light. The problem occurs in that it is inevitably not going to be funny this time around due to the show sucking donkey-ass for years now.

They should give it a go in that case.

Besides, everyone knows that African Americans are like Carl and non-African Americans are like Lenny. There's no other way to portray these people.

they've already had a paddy's day bit in the show in case you've forgotten/didn't know

    it was ****ing awesome.

stereotypical irish portrayed but it was hilarious.

IRA blowing up a brittish pub although this was edited out after complaints.

one of my favourite simpsons episodes was that, it was the rex banner prohabition episode.

this time round though it will no doubt be of the same quality of the last 7-8 seasons.

Aye that was one of the better later episodes! There were a few funny gems directed at the Irish in various episodes. I still would have liked to see a full on Ireland episode in the vein of the hilarious Australia one, as opposed to the not so great Africa and Brazil episodes that came later on.

Edit: Holy overuse of the word 'episode' :(

Most young black Americans in 2009 are not cotton pickers.

Most young Irish people are raving drunkards. Therefore, entirely legit.

Still by the standard of recent eps I wont be going out of my way to watch this.

    Fantastic episode

Why are new Simpsons even discussed nowadays? Who cares if it's in Ireland, If one thing is certain it's that it will be terrible, the writers have been using international destinations as storylines because they cant think of squat. The Simpsons international romps became old after Japan.

I think The Simpsons has turned into an abomination, people who get enjoyment out of the 'new' Simpsons are either children or strange individuals.

It's sad that my lasting impression of The Simpsons will be a bad one.

Actually one thing Im proud of as an Irishman is our willingness to have the piss ripped out of us. Take that stick up ur ass african americans! :D Gonna be in new york so I wont see it and I won't shed any tears as I can bet it won't be funny.

This was a good funny episode:rolleyes::D
There was not a lot of research done for this episode the police van should have said Garda. The red bus could have been blue or green, there was no enjoyment out of watching the 'new' but still a good funny episode.

The Simpsons stopped being funny about 3 years ago. The Saint Patrick's Day episode was a new low in just how unfunny the show has become. It used to be fantastic at one time and really clever, now it is like a really bad American family sitcom. Completely lost it's edge.

There was nothing funny in the Irish episode. Absolutely nothing at all. It seems to have lost itself in the same "humour" as Family Guy in that once you make refernce to something this automatically = side splittingly funny. Apparently...

The pathetic "funny" part were they were a video game on the Giant's Causeway shows a writing staff which simply cannot function anymore.

Bring back Frank Grimes! Better still cancel the show.

    What was funny about it?

It was awful, the show has been consistently awful for years.

And it gave me the impression that they did no research. The red double decker bus and the POLICE instead of GARDAI tells me that they still think we are under British rule??
