    hello,

I,m 21.Want to get bikini wax or more, nervous about it tho, never had it done before. just want to know what the process is. is it embarrasing, is everything on show. Is it extreme pain?

Just if anyone could help me by telling me what happens in there that would be great

    Thanks!

Depends what type of wax you get. Of all the waxes I've gotten, only once did I have to swap my underwear for a paper thong. Every other time, I've just kept my underwear on. All that's on show is your skin. They move the lines of your underwear around to get to the areas, but nothing intimate is on show.

As for pain, it varies. I'd say it's relatively painful, but it only lasts for a few minutes.

Have a look in the Fashion & Appearance forum, there's loads of threads about waxing in there. And there's an extensive thread about brazilian waxing in the Ladies Lounge.

    Just a tip for afterwards:

Exfoliate like crazy to stop the new hair getting ingrown and coming out in angry red bumps!!!!

Yeah depends on the kind of waxing you want to get done, Check out the ladies lounge for more info!

Before you get waxed, trim your hair(it makes things less painful). Waxing hurts, it all depends on who does it, what product they use...
And after, make sure to exfoliate thoroughly, then apply loads of baby oil. Boots has this cream for ingrown hair.. It's €16 or so-can't remember....

2 essentials - Sudacreme ( you should put this all over straight after the wax to prevent immediate ingrowns and sooth it)

Bio Oil ( NOT BABY OIL!! Bio Oil is orange coloured and costs about 15euros) for in between waxes

I also find body brushing helps maintain it and DO NOT go near a gym within 24 hrs of waxing!!

I have never had a bikini wax, went straight to the Brazilians - would highly recommend it - first time is quite painful ( but if u never had one sure U don't know anyway) but it is only 5 mins of pain for a month or smoothness so I would say they're the way to go! NB Brazilians are naked totally on bottom half in case that puts u off but I don't find anything awkward with it the girls are obviously used to it like !

Again, this depends on where you go. I get brazilians and it's never been without some form of underwear.

well there is a thread in ladies lounge but there is not much detail on whether it is embarassing etc. I know this because I went lookinge same information!
I had regular bikini waxes twice and both times I got to keep my knickers on. It did hurt, but mostly just on the pubic bone area, really it is not too bad, definitely not unbearable, its a quick tug then it's fine. Just has my 1st semi-hollywood last week. I was v nervous as I had to take off my knickers so that girl saw more of me than my boyf!! but it was not at all as bad as I thought. She was so nice and kind and we just chatted away about stuff. Really they see vaginas all the time, and you will realise quickly that they aren't embarassed or shocked or anything. It feels great anyway once its done, so you should go for it. Only thing is, as someone said above to trim it, that might be a good idea but don't do it too close. A few of my hairs wouldn't come out as they were to short.
    Good luck!!

Do they? I thought they kept it mostly external.

/checks nearest vagina for internal hair.

Quick tip: take a paracetamol 20 minutes before you go in, it will take the bite out of it. Second ask in advance if the salon does Australian hot wax. It goes on extremely hot but peels/pulls off (as opposed to using cotton strips to yank wax and hair off) It wont last as long but is way less painful and def better until you get used to waxing.
For what its worth when I started waxing I found underarms to be more painful than a standard bikini wax (not talking about brazilians I only ever get a high californian)
Investm in a bottle of tea tree lotion and tea tree oil. (Bath in the oil the night after the wax) it is fantastic for preventing infection.

I didn't find waxing too painfull and it's over pretty quick, your bound to be nervous your first time but once you get it over and done with you'll be grand. If you can't face it though there are lots of hair removal creams available, I prefer to use these as I haven't the time to go to a beauticen.

don't worry about being embrassed, go somewhere you know nobody.. and think to yourself you'll never have to see the girl ever again if you don't want to.

Oh one other thing, probably sounds obvious but RELAX - really I promise the expectation of pain is far worse than the actual pain of a wax BUT if you tense up the hairs tighten and it hurts more! Deep breaths is all it takes!!

Oh come on Victor, yeah of course they are not peering up into your vagina but to wax the lips ya have to pull the skin tight, it's pretty intimate, for want of a better word. but to the OP, there is some great advice here, and once ya do it once, you'll wonder what all the fuss was about! you'll be grand!!
