Apologies if this has been asked already. The iTunes UK store has HD tv content for sale e.g battlestar galactica episodes. Now I know the PS3 is a blu-ray player but I was wondering if it will play these if I download them to PC and transfer to my PS3 hard drive. The PS3 seems to play practically every video format will it play these?

I find the ps3 has pretty bad video support actually - theres loads of formats it can't read....

MKV files especially, it's a shame they won't play natively on PS3. The format seems to have become quite common. Luckily, mkv2vob makes a quick conversion, but it shouldn't be neccessary.

All iTunes videos are still laden with DRM - they will only play on a PC or Mac with iTunes installed and authorized (up to 5 systems can be authorized at a time) for the account which was used to purchase the videos. So no, they will not play on the PS3, regardless of anything else (so the video format has no bearing on things anyway)...

You can stream the shows from your Mac/PC to the PS3...but in reality a direct-to-TV approach using a DVI to HDMI cable would be simpler :)

That's not what the OP was asking though:

Haven't played around with streaming to the PS3 though - I figured it wouldn't work with DRMed content anyway - if it does, it's really the only solution the OP could use then...

No but he already had the answer so I provided an alternative ;)

    I have ;)

Nope, as I said, going direct from his PC/Mac to the TV via a cable and bypassing his PS3 altogether would be the answer. I know this is the Playstation forum but as I said already, he's had his answers, I'm just providing alternatives.

EDIT: I'm not going into bypassing DRM here or by PM though but it can be done.

Ah ok, thanks for clarifying - I thought you originally meant streaming the DRM content to the PS3 would be possible... Just goes to show you what a bloody burden DRM always is for the people who actually buy the content. If you were to acquire it from "other" sources, you wouldn't have to jump through hoops, but go the legal route and you have to put up with crap like this :(. But that's a rant for another forum and another thread :).
