I need to buy parts for a pneumatic system and I have very little experience in the area. I would be grateful if anyone here could help me with a few questions.

The SMC catalog refers to a built in magnet in their cylinders. What exactly is the magnet for and do i need it?

Is there much of a price difference between a 100mm stroke cylinder and a 50mm one? (125mm bore)

Also can anybody recommend a relatively cheap solenoid/solenoid 3/2 valve?

I may have a few more questions but for the moment any help on these would be greatly appriciated.

    Thanks

Post the cylinder details please. Magnets are generally used in cylinders for positioning but have other uses too, I'd need to see the cylinder to know what its use is.

Some cylinders can be got for more or less the same money regardless of the stroke if the bore is the same.

What voltage do you require for the solenoid? Again more details please. What speed do you require? Soft start/stop? What are you planning to use it for?
