Anyone use or have had experience with Financial E-Trade.

Your Pros and Cons would be welcome.

If you don't rate this broker, please feel free to mention your current one, and the reasons behind your decision to go with this one;).

I have seen a lot of comments about which ones not to use and which ones over charge, and most everyone is saying use X or Y online, but please back it up with a name:confused:. I can check it up then.

    All posts appreciated;).

    Hi,

Try Interactive Brokers (InteractiveBrokers.com). They have the best commissions / less slippage but you need minimum $5000 to open an account

I personally use E-trade and find them very good. They have good research available through SnP and Thomas Reuters. Also a lot of independent research. Commissions are 12.99. If you are new to trading like I was you will find the site very easy to use. Only problem you may run into is not being an American resident. I have heard it is more difficult to set one up. Best of luck

yeah, I emailed them and asked could i set up an account. they said yes.

then they pasted in a section from the website, "Requirements",
    UK bank account. . .

annoying when they dont read your questions.

I clearly mentioned I was in the Rep of Ireland.
    I emailed them back

You could drive to Newry in an hour from Dublin and open an account with First Trust (AIB in the North) and that would be an account in the UK ?

can one do this, open an account in NI and use it as a UK bank account for E-Trade???????? but be living in the south.

I just got confirmation that I only need a UK Bank account, I do not have to be UK resident.

I can open an Etrade account with UK-Etrade.

I have used etrade. They are a good outfit to trade with. Cheap and efficient. platform is decent enough..good news flow on it.. I tried the bank account in the north. Went to newry. Etrade dont regard northern irish accounts as UK accounts if i remember correctly. They cant do same day transfers to those accounts..So u will get charged an international (£30),say, to send money from ur etrade account back to ur bank account up north. What u can do is this....Go to HSBC website..u can get a passport account..U will have to go to the england to register the account..but the advantage with an account like this is that u can have etrade send money (hopefully trading profits) to ur HSBC account without a fee..then u have an atm card so u can withdraw cash here in dublin..

Go with InteractiveBrokers. It took me less than 2 weeks to open account there. Most trades cost 1$.
