Played an hour of 5 a side last week and tonight and no ill effects - the legs are all good so far....I'm very pleasantly surprised to say the least - doesn't mean it's all sorted for good but it does show the physio program is doing some good <goes off to find some wood to touch>.

Yeh, sorry Derek, that hadn't registered with me when I copied and pasted. Bummer to hear you have ligament damage, nasty injury - all the best with it.

If you need a good physio or consultant, I recommend http://www.sportssurgeryclinic.com/ - there's so many misinformed physios out there it was great to get a consultant to diagnose me and then hand it over to a good physio, might be of use.

    Just something lads.

Forget about last week, it looks we'll have a changed team anyway, so it will be a different game completely.

Very important point. Absolutely no complacency tonight. My injury seems to be fine this morning. Will get a good warm up in and I should be fine.

some good news (jules back, martin fit, keiths job!!) and some not so good news, dereks injury - how long??????????

looks like larry has packed it in ya???? only 3/4 games from him this season which is unusual as larry generally is the sort of guy that would always be interested and never was unhappy with the set up. strange.

    Nope, he's busy with college.

    He'll be back next week.

2-0 win. Great battling performance. One of the most committed performances I've seen from this team. Super stuff

Yep wasn't pretty but we ground out a result and stuck at it for 60 mins.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6,081 ✭✭✭LeixlipRed

Exactly. Definitely wasn't pretty. The whole game consisted of players from both teams passing to players of the other team with the jersey clash :D

hmmm, strange game as in we didnt play anything spectacular yet we totally deserved the win. they were a physical side and alot of the game was played in the air. we matched them in this but they played 3 at the back and 5 in the middle and that caused us problems.

mick was superb at left full as he has been for weeks now, nobody else stood out but then again, it was a team effort and everybody played well.

des, ciaran has 9 goals for the season, can you update his scorechart please? he has been missing one for ages and 2 from last nite.

by the way, superb results elsewhere last nite. all we need now is glenwood to draw one game and were sorted.

You think I'm doing it on purpose or what?

I update the Astro site every week after our match, and put in the scores and scorers, I definitely put him in for 2 last night.

That is the glitchiest site in the world for stats, in fairness.

:eek: as long as the table isnt wrong then its fine

The main quality displayed last night I thought was grit, pure grit to still boss the game while never quite clicking into top gear. Sign of a strong team. Loved the way Eddie got stuck into every challenge and won countless headers. Top class strike from Ciaran for the free-kick goal and if he had tapped in the chance a few minutes later, that would have been a truly outstanding team goal...but every team needs an enigma!

Some lovely football played at times and it could've been more but I guess those goals are in reserve for when they're needed! I guess if they had a half-decent striker they may have at least threatened with the very few chances they had, which would've flattered them.

Though they were quite physical and fit they played like a bunch of spoilt kids - moaning at the ref throughout and then resorting to bitch-like trips all over the place in the second-half,with ref doing a very poor job of stamping that out as it could've easily injured someone. But our frequent claims to the ref didn't endear us to him either so 50-50s were going to the losing team.

Too often we seem to take the niggle and shout to the ref instead of giving a bit back...nothing wrong with being a meaner team and knowing when to make a smart foul or give a little niggle. Picking out their most on-edge player and winding him up to see if he bites and wastes his own time (like their 8 did last night) when we're trying to close out the game is one of the oldest tricks in the book and has more payback than moaning to the ref.
