i had booked a flight to zurich from dublin on 5th feb. The flight was cancelled due to a skift of snow (no shovels). Am i eligible for a refund?
I filled out a refund form on the website the following day but theres been no transactions on my credit card since? Or has aer lingus caught me again?

    :(

Presuming they got you back on an alternative flight and provided meals/accommodation as required, you're most likely to get no refund.

I always thought you went through your travel insurance for cases such as this

Yeah you should have got a refund for the outbound flight at least, do you have any record of filling out the cancellation form that you could contact aer Lingus with? I'm assuming you ended up not travelling to Zurich at all.

I spoke to a friend who works in travel insurance, Aer Lingus are only obliged to give you back the air fare, everything else they can keep (and you can claim from the airports and stuff) but if you go through your travel insurance you'll get it all back, including the deposit which was slightly more than your excess on your policy ;)
