    Hi All,

Bought myself a Giant Defy 2.5 last week. Took her out for a 30mile spin yesterday morning.
Someone mentioned to me that you can get special oil to keep your chain clean etc. I've been looking on Chainreactioncycles.com but there are so many bits and bobs there that i just don't know what to go with.

Can any of you recommend what the best oil to oil the chain regularly, and also any other maintenance products or techniques that you use to keep the bike ticking along nicely??

    Previous identical questions

Lots of stuff has been asked before, so a quick search through the forum will usually find loads of information

i just use clean sponges with hot water and a bit of fairy liquid. for the chain and wheel rims i use an abrasive sponge. occasionally i'll use brillo pads to clean the chain, cassette and chainrings.

el tonto will vouch that this works better than any cleaning product. and clean the bike after every time you use it. time consuming i know, but worth it.

Defo soap and water approach is the best.

Now you've got a little song to sing when you're washing your bike.
