    Hi

I am travelling to Tokyo in the coming weeks and although I have been reading the Lonely planet for Tokyo I am a little overwhelmed at its size and was wondering if anyone has any advice or recommendations for me to stay for my first night? I have a friend in Tokyo to stay with for the remainder but will need 1 or 2 nights when I land.

Any recommendations? I would be looking for a cheap hotel or hostel.

    Hertz

    Have a look at http://www.japaneseguesthouses.com/db/tokyo/index.htm

We used this a few times and found some nice places at really reasonable prices. We often found that business hotels work out as cheap as hostelsin some cities so might be worth trying few hotel search site too, not just hostels.

Fist of all I just want to tell you that there is no need to feel overwhelmed when travelling to Tokyo. I went there by myself for a month last summer and couldn't speak the language but pretty soon I got the hang of everything and ended uphaving the best time of my life. So I'm sure you will manage. As far as finding a place to stay, if you're looking for somewhere cheap then I would recommend Sakura House. Just check out www.sakura-house.com.

I stayed in one of their guest houses but they have hotels and hostels as well and I'm sure they would be fine for you. They also have a little location thing on their website to show you where in Tokyo the place is.. I would recommend finding somewhere as close as possible to the main train or subway lines because it can be a little difficult to find your way around at first.

Have a great trip, and if you've any more questions let me know.
