It took me long enough to figure out that, this is a forum for The Pale members only. Us mere mortals down the country are excluded. I reckon we need neutral territory to solve this issue, may I suggest the ROK as a chanllenge....

All suggestions welcome......no strikes though (for the hurlers)

It may seem that way but that is unfair IMO.
A similar thread was posted a few weeks back by another poster, where it was suggested that a boards spin should happen outside Dublin.

Not one boardsie living outside Dublin posted a suggested date or route (even the OP) as far as I am aware. Some had suggested this w/e just gone in the middle of the country but had to cancel due to lack of enthusiasm.

This is a small country, and it may seem like that this site is Dublin centric, but that is because some folks have put in the small effort req'd to get us all together for a spin every once in a while.

This is now being followed by Waterford boardsies, and I see Cork has finally got in on the act.

I still think it would be a good idea for a big boards spin outside Dublin.

BTW, I would say that you will have no shortgae of takers for a ROK boards race:D.

The fact that you used DUBLIN in the thread title says it all.

Dublin is the default. Was this not explained to you during registration?

    Tsk, janey mack etc.

To be fair, I know how you feel. I live several miles outside the M50. I'd live further out except I prefer to be within cycling distance of Michael Collins' grave.

Meh, the usual rubbish. Well if you want an event to happen outside Dublin why don't you get off your ass and be the one who does the organising? Work to change things (constructively) instead of moaning.

    /rant

You should also bear in mind that at least 30% of the entire population of Ireland live in Dublin so of course the signal to noise ratio is going to be higher.

Not trying to be smart but if the forum would appear to be Dublin-centric - is that not just a reflection of the demographic that is present and (most) active on the forum, simple as? Would it not be the case that if there was a lot of web-savvy and active cyclists from, say Killarney, the forum would be strongly Kerry focused?

Just for the record - it's a great forum

Next week there should be a 1000km spin, just to take in everyone.

    (bring your lights)

Dublin centric forum, but most of our spins are in Wicklow or Meath... :)

You forgot Kildare. When coming back from Meath or Wicklow, I usually have to go thru Kildare to get back to Dublin.
We are expanding all the time.

if your point has any merit (i have my doubts) it has to be that it is a forum by The Pale members only. if you want to make your presence felt, speak up. we're not silencing you - you simply aren't saying anything.

yes, it's a conspiracy. the dubs, the jews, the lizards and the freemasons are conspiring to exclude you specifically from the interwebz. or you could be a little paranoid and self-pitying. hard to tell from within the ivory tower pale.

Limerick member here and I try contribute as much as possible! Home:Ballyhoura must surely be a limerick member too and another member mentioned siopa rothair so I guess there's another Limerick person (can't remember who). Surely its not that dublin specific. Where are you based anyways?

Maybe post your location and you'll be surprised who else might be
from your area. Once you know one or two local-ish people then it'd be easier to organise a few saturday spins among yourselves. Its unreasonable to expect the dublin members to travel 100 miles to meet you for a saturday spin.

yeh i've never seen a boards jersey in donegal town - but then i'm the only cyclist i ever see as well, you should see the suprise on car drivers faces when they see me coming the other way.

I suppose that there are three major sportives (W200, ROK, Sean Kelly) and a host of sportives below that, as well as club races etc.

It would be relatively easy to hook up with people, if folks posted (1) they were interested in meeting other boardsies, (2) what cycling events they will be at - and take it from there.

As much as I would love to drive 2 or 3 hours for a "39th game" type spin to promote boards.ie, I think the fact is that the spins happen in Dublin because they were organised by Dublin riders who would be heading out around Dublin/Wicklow anyway.

I see now Quigs and a few lads have a strong Waterford spin going and I think I spotted a Cork spin thread.

Fact is, boards.ie is a global community but if you want to have a local boards spin then it is up to yourself to find a few local members.
