    Sorry folks,

Not getting much luck on this in the DIY forum. Anyone here be able to shed some light as to what their underfloor heating timer settings are? We were told to have it on from 4am to 9pm and then off from 9pm to 4am with the stats set to on - 20 degrees, and off 15 degrees.

    Rough guide

For tiled areas allow 1 hour warm up period , same for cool down

For timber floor / carpets - allow 2 hours warm up , 1 hour cool down

A "funny thing" I notice with UFH . Suppose you have an open plan Kitchen / Dining area . Kitchen tiled / Dining timber . Even when the UFH is working perfectly users can perceive that it is not . They believe the timber dining area is not working well - even when temp stats indicate other wise . The tiles simply feel warmer than the timber , even though the internal air temp is exactly the same in both parts of the the room

I always look for a stat controller for each part of such a space and with a little trial and error the users figure out a setting that suits them

We have the same experience. The tiles feel warmer but the rooms with timber actually have the same temp on the stats!!

In setting the timer though sinnerboy should I have it on for 16 hours and off for 8 hours?

That seems excessive - but it depends on your periodic requirements for heat

Assuming wake up at 7am , bedtime at 11pm and no heat needed during "office hours" then try

    on 5am off 7am

    on 3pm ( assuming heat required a 5pm ) off at 10pm

A bit of trial and error .....
