I bow to your wisdom. Thanks folks.

Spent a few hours watching all kinds of small birds - bluetits, goldfinch, bullfinch, chaffinch, etc .... but that guy was more unusual (and much larger).

    Thanks.

I might post up some picts later, if people would like.

    1. Coal Tit.
    2. Goldfinch.
    3. Blue Tit.
    4. Great Tit.
    5. Siskin (on left) and Blue Tit.
    6. Goldfinch.

You need a book on Garden Birds. www.birdwatchireland.ie have a well stocked shop with plenty of useful books.
The Jay pic was very nice - unusual to get close to one as they are wary of humans. :)

    Thanks for the names.

As for the Jay - large lens was very helpful. :D The bird was in the garden just wandering around. I had enough time to get the camera and my longest lens.

As pointed out it is a picture of a Jay. One of my favourites i must say. I see them regularly enough in the Phoenix Park but never had one visit the garden. Looking at the colours it's hard to believe they are members of the crow family.
