Could I have contracted something?

I've been worried the last few days after reading a response to a problem in an advice column. Basically the bones of the article was that it is not good to give unprotected oral sex.

I have had three sexual partners and have given unprotected oral sex to all. It never bothered me at the time, I never got any colesores or anything ( is this even related?).

Basically could I have contracted something? If so what & what should I do next?

    Thanks

Do u have any symtoms ? If your that stressed out you can take a visit to ur local clinic and get a full screening to put ur mind at peace.

  • Are you a guy or a girl? From what I've been told, it's uncommon for guys to pick up STIs in the throat but more common for girls. Still not terribly common. If you did get coldsores you could have given someone herpes, but if you never heard back I doubt there's much to worry about. There's nothing you can do about it anyway. You could go to the doctor and ask to have swabs taken from your throat if you're worried.

First of all, the media love writing stories about how easy it is to get diseases. The reality is it's not so easy, so don't panic.

Secondly, the people you were with would have to have particular STI's, and even then it's pretty hard to catch them via oral. Yes, the odd person every now and then gets chlamydia of the thoat, but it's uncommon and not really something you should worry about. Certainly it's not something doctors worry about.

Put your mind at rest by getting tested, but if I were you I wouldn't be worrying.

Technically, yes, you can get STIs from oral sex. But afaik they stay in your throat and don't migrate anywhere else. Symptoms would generally be a sore throat or tonsillitis and the like. You'd have to go to your doctor or STI clinic and get swabs taken to be sure.
